There is no more magical way to experience the Serengeti than from a hot air balloon drifting silently above the plains at dawn. As the world below awakens — wildebeest herds moving, lions finishing their night hunts, the Mara River glinting in the first light — you float weightlessly above it all in near-total silence.
Beryx Travel partners with licensed Serengeti balloon operators for this extraordinary experience. Launch from the Central Serengeti or Northern Serengeti (during migration season) as darkness fades to reveal one of Earth's greatest landscapes beneath you. The hour-long flight ends with a traditional champagne bush breakfast laid out on the plains.
Transfer from your Serengeti camp before sunrise to the balloon launch site. Watch the massive balloon inflate in the growing dawn light as you receive your safety briefing.
The balloon rises silently to 100–300 metres above the plains, following the morning thermals. Your pilot narrates wildlife sightings below — herds, predators, and bird formations.
On landing (wherever the wind takes you!), a fully laid breakfast table awaits in the bush — champagne, eggs, sausages, fruits, and coffee. A certificate of flight is presented to each guest.
After breakfast, a game drive vehicle returns you to camp — often via excellent wildlife sightings in the morning prime hours. The full experience takes 3–4 hours total.
