Enjoy a seamless transfer to your comfortable hotel in Moshi. Depending on your landing schedule, take advantage of an optional insider tour of Arusha town to experience its vibrant markets and cultural attractions. Later that evening, your Lead Guide will meet you at the hotel for an extensive pre-climb briefing and gear check, ensuring you are perfectly equipped for the mountain ahead.

Following a fresh breakfast, take a scenic 1 to 2-hour drive through bustling villages and coffee farms to the Machame Gate. After completing the official national park registrations with your crew, step onto the trail. Your journey begins with a steady, rhythmic hike through the spectacular, moss-draped canopy of the montane rainforest. Listen to exotic bird calls and spot black-and-white colobus monkeys in the trees. Arrive at Machame Camp by late afternoon, where your porter crew will have your private tents fully pitched and waiting.

Meals: All Meals & Non-Alcoholic Beverages Included
Awaken to a hot drink brought straight to your tent. Today's trek leaves the rainforest canopy behind, transitioning into the striking heather and moorland zones. The path steepens as you ascend a scenic rocky ridge leading onto the expansive Shira Plateau, an ancient, collapsed volcanic crater. As you trek across this dramatic highland desert, look back to catch breathtaking views of Kibo peak piercing the clouds. Relax in camp as the afternoon sun casts golden light across the plateau.

Today is a pivotal milestone for your summit success, beautifully utilizing the mountaineering rule: "Climb high, sleep low." You will hike eastward up a steady slope into a stark alpine desert, heading toward the massive volcanic plug of Lava Tower (4,630m). Enjoy a hot, chef-prepared lunch at the base of the tower to allow your body to adapt to the high altitude. Afterward, begin a scenic descent down into the beautiful Barranco Valley. This sheltered glen is famous for its towering cliffs and groves of prehistoric giant groundsels (Senecio). Arrive at camp positioned beneath the majestic Barranco Wall.
Accommodation: Barranco Campsite
Meals: All Meals & Non-Alcoholic Beverages Included
Your morning begins with the most exciting trail challenge on the mountain: tackling the grand Barranco Wall. While it looks imposing from camp, it is an incredibly fun, non-technical scramble that requires using your hands and feet on secure rock paths. At the top of the wall, enjoy a panoramic view of the southern ice fields and Heim Glacier. From here, follow a series of ridges through the alpine desert, descending briefly into the green Karanga Valley before climbing up to Karanga Camp. Note: Shorter 7-day itineraries skip this stay and push straight through, but this extra night is your golden ticket to vital rest and acclimatization.
Accommodation: Karanga Campsite
Meals: All Meals & Non-Alcoholic Beverages Included
Today is a short, focused march designed to deliver you to base camp with plenty of time to rest before your summit attempt. The trail intersects with the Mweka descent trail and climbs steadily up a bleak, wind-swept volcanic ridge. Arrive at Barafu Camp (4,673m) by early afternoon. Your crew will have camp secured on a narrow, rocky ridge. Take in the inspiring views of Mawenzi and Kibo looming directly above you. Enjoy an early 5:00 p.m. dinner, double-check your thermal layers and headlamp, and get into your sleeping bag for crucial sleep before the midnight call.
Accommodation: Barafu Base Camp
Meals: All Meals & Non-Alcoholic Beverages Included
Your wake-up call sounds at midnight. Under a vast, star-lit African sky, your ultimate physical and mental challenge begins. Trekking by the faint glow of your headlamp, you will ascend the steep switchbacks of the scree slopes toward the crater rim. As dawn breaks, reach Stella Point (5,685m) on the rim, rewarded by a brilliant sunrise illuminating the clouds below. Pushing onward past massive, glowing glacial walls for another hour, you will stand triumphant at Uhuru Peak (5,895m / 19,341ft), the absolute Roof of Africa! After celebrating your victory and capturing your iconic photos, begin the descent back down to Barafu Camp for a brief rest and a warm lunch. Pack your gear and continue downward through the heather zones to the thick air of Mweka Camp for a well-deserved, celebratory sleep.
Accommodation: Mweka Campsite
Meals: All Meals & Hot Summit Refreshments Included
Your final morning on the mountain begins with a heartwarming farewell song and celebration dance from your dedicated Beryx mountain crew.
